RETURNS, REFUNDS & WARRANTY POLICY
- Introduction
At Spin Blade Padel, we are committed to supplying high-quality padel equipment and providing fair, transparent and professional customer service.
This Returns, Refunds & Warranty Policy explains the conditions applicable to returns, Spin Blade Wallet credits, statutory refunds and warranty claims.
Nothing in this policy is intended to limit or exclude any rights available to consumers under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, or any other applicable South African law.
- Eligibility for Discretionary Returns
In addition to any rights provided by law, Spin Blade Padel may accept a discretionary return where a customer has changed their mind, ordered the incorrect product or no longer wants the product.
To qualify for a discretionary return:
- The return request must be submitted within 7 days of delivery
- The product must be unused
- The product must be in its original packaging
- The product must be in the same condition in which it was received
- All labels, tags, protective materials and accessories must be included
- Proof of purchase or a valid Spin Blade order number must be provided
Approved discretionary returns will be issued as a Spin Blade Wallet credit, subject to the deductions described in this policy.
Acceptance of a discretionary return remains subject to inspection and does not affect any separate statutory return rights the customer may have.
- Non-Returnable Items
Unless a return is required by applicable law, the following products will not qualify for a discretionary return:
- Padel rackets that have been used
- Products showing signs of play, wear and tear or impact damage
- Products with opened, missing or materially damaged packaging
- Customised, personalised or specially ordered products
- Products damaged through misuse, negligence or improper storage
- Products damaged through contact with walls, floors, fences, glass, posts, nets, other rackets or other objects
- Products exposed to rain, moisture, wet courts, excessive heat or prolonged sunlight
- Products with cosmetic damage that does not affect their structural integrity, safety or performance
- Clearance or final-sale products where this was clearly disclosed before purchase
This section does not exclude returns involving defective, unsafe, incorrectly supplied, damaged-on-delivery or misrepresented products where the customer has a right to return the product under applicable law.
- How to Initiate a Return
Step 1: Contact Us
Email spinblade@spinblade.co.za and provide:
- Your order number
- The product being returned
- The reason for the return
- Clear photographs where the product is damaged, defective or incorrectly supplied
Step 2: Return Authorisation
If the return request is accepted for assessment, Spin Blade Padel will provide a Return Authorisation Number and return instructions.
A Return Authorisation Number does not automatically confirm that the return, wallet credit, refund or warranty claim has been approved. Final approval remains subject to inspection and, where applicable, warranty assessment.
Step 3: Package the Product
The customer must package the product securely, preferably using the original protective packaging, and include the Return Authorisation Number.
Spin Blade Padel will not be responsible for damage caused by inadequate return packaging where the return is transported at the customer’s risk.
Step 4: Return the Product
For discretionary returns, return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility.
Where a product is returned because of a verified defect, incorrect supply, delivery damage or another reason for which Spin Blade Padel is legally responsible, return arrangements and costs will be handled as required by applicable law.
Products should not be returned before return authorisation and instructions have been provided.
- Spin Blade Wallet Credits and Refunds
5.1 Discretionary Returns
Where Spin Blade Padel approves a return because the customer has changed their mind, ordered the incorrect product or no longer wants the product—and a monetary refund is not required by applicable law—the approved return value will be issued as a Spin Blade Wallet credit.
The Spin Blade Wallet credit:
- Will be linked to the customer’s Spin Blade account
- May be used toward future purchases on the Spin Blade website
- May be used over multiple orders until the available balance is depleted
- Cannot be exchanged or redeemed for cash
- Is non-transferable
- Will not earn interest
- Cannot be used to purchase gift cards or additional wallet credit
- Will remain valid for at least the minimum period required by applicable law
The customer must have or create a Spin Blade website account using the same email address associated with the original order before the wallet credit can be issued.
5.2 Statutory Refunds
Where applicable South African law entitles the customer to a monetary refund, the refund will not be restricted to a Spin Blade Wallet credit.
This may include qualifying returns involving:
- Defective or unsafe products
- Incorrectly supplied products
- Products that do not correspond with their description
- Products damaged before or during delivery
- Valid statutory cooling-off cancellations
- Other circumstances where a monetary refund is required by law
Unless the customer voluntarily agrees to accept a Spin Blade Wallet credit, a statutory monetary refund will be processed using the original payment method wherever reasonably possible.
If the original payment method cannot be used, Spin Blade Padel may request verified banking details or arrange another lawful refund method.
5.3 Processing Period
- Spin Blade Wallet credits are generally issued within 7–10 business days after the returned product has been received, inspected and approved.
- Statutory monetary refunds will be processed within the period required by applicable law.
- Additional processing times imposed by banks and payment providers are outside Spin Blade Padel’s control.
5.4 Courier and Return Costs
For an approved discretionary return, including where the customer has changed their mind, ordered the incorrect product or no longer wants the product:
- The customer must arrange and pay for the product to be returned to Spin Blade Padel.
- The product remains at the customer’s risk until it has been delivered to and received by Spin Blade Padel.
- The customer should use a reliable, trackable courier service and package the product securely.
- The original delivery or outbound courier charge is non-refundable and will not be included in the Spin Blade Wallet credit, except where otherwise required by applicable law.
- No standard restocking fee will apply where the product is returned unused, complete and in its original undamaged packaging.
- Spin Blade Padel may deduct reasonable costs for missing packaging or accessories, damage, excessive handling, repackaging or restoration where permitted by applicable law. The customer will be informed of any deduction and the reason for it.
Where a product is returned because it is defective, damaged on delivery, incorrectly supplied or otherwise does not comply with applicable law, Spin Blade Padel will arrange or reimburse reasonable return costs where legally required.
No deduction or return charge will be imposed where prohibited by applicable law.
5.5 Promotional Discounts and Gift Cards
Where a returned product was purchased using a promotional discount, coupon, gift card or wallet credit, the approved return value will be calculated according to the amount actually paid for that product.
Promotional discounts have no separate cash value.
Amounts originally paid using a Spin Blade Wallet credit or gift card will be returned to the applicable wallet or gift card and will not be paid out in cash, except where otherwise required by law.
- Exchanges
Spin Blade Padel does not offer direct product exchanges.
To obtain a different product:
- Return the original product in accordance with this policy
- Wait for the applicable Spin Blade Wallet credit or refund to be approved
- Place a new order for the desired product
Stock cannot be reserved while a return or warranty assessment is in progress. Prices, promotions and product availability may change before the new order is placed.
- Damaged, Incorrect or Defective Products on Arrival
If a product arrives damaged, appears defective or is not the product ordered, please contact Spin Blade Padel as soon as reasonably possible, preferably within 7 days of delivery.
Email spinblade@spinblade.co.za with:
- Your order number
- Clear photographs of the entire product
- Close-up photographs of the affected area
- Photographs of the packaging and courier label where delivery damage is suspected
- A detailed description of the problem
The product must not be used after damage or a possible defect has been identified, as continued use could worsen the damage and affect the assessment.
Following inspection, Spin Blade Padel will provide the repair, replacement, monetary refund, Spin Blade Wallet credit or other remedy required or agreed upon under applicable law.
A customer will not be compelled to accept a Spin Blade Wallet credit where the customer is legally entitled to a monetary refund.
- Warranty
8.1 Warranty Coverage
Padel rackets supplied by Spin Blade Padel are covered against qualifying manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for the period provided by applicable South African law and any additional warranty offered by the applicable manufacturer or authorised distributor.
The statutory implied warranty provided under the Consumer Protection Act generally applies for six months from delivery, subject to the Act and the circumstances of the claim.
Warranty coverage applies to manufacturing defects arising during the product’s ordinarily intended use. It does not cover damage, deterioration or performance changes resulting from normal wear and tear, accidental impact, misuse, negligence, inappropriate use or improper storage.
8.2 What Is Generally Not a Manufacturing Defect
Unless accompanied by evidence of a structural or manufacturing failure, the following will generally not be considered manufacturing defects:
- Gradual loss of power, responsiveness, feel or “pop”
- EVA core compression or fatigue resulting from regular play
- Gradual changes in sweet-spot performance
- Differences between the product and a previous or different racket
- Subjective dissatisfaction with weight, balance, hardness, control, power or feel
- Normal paint, clear-coat, decal or surface wear
- Normal deterioration resulting from the product’s age, frequency of use or playing intensity
Padel rackets are high-performance sporting products with a finite performance lifespan. Their lifespan varies according to player level, frequency and intensity of play, ball quality, court conditions, impact exposure and product care.
Each claim will nevertheless be assessed on its individual facts and in accordance with applicable law.
8.3 Warranty Claim Procedure
All warranty claims must be submitted to:
Claims submitted through social media, messaging platforms or alternative email addresses may experience processing delays.
The following information must be supplied:
- Proof of purchase or a valid Spin Blade order number
- Clear photographs of the front and back of the racket
- Clear photographs of the frame, edges and handle
- Close-up photographs of the suspected defect
- The serial number or visible serial imprint, where applicable
- A detailed description of when and how the issue occurred
- Any additional photographs or videos reasonably requested for assessment
Failure to provide sufficient information may delay the assessment.
8.4 Warranty Assessment Process
Spin Blade Padel is the retailer and remains responsible for handling valid claims in accordance with applicable law.
Spin Blade Padel may refer a warranty claim to the manufacturer or authorised distributor for technical assessment. The product may need to be returned for:
- Physical inspection
- Sound testing
- Imaging or video analysis
- Serial-number verification
- Other reasonable diagnostic assessments
The manufacturer’s or distributor’s technical assessment will be considered when determining whether the issue constitutes a manufacturing defect. However, that assessment does not limit any rights or remedies available to the customer under applicable South African law.
Where the alleged problem cannot be confirmed through photographs or video, the racket may need to be physically returned before a decision can be made.
8.5 Cosmetic Imperfections
Padel rackets are manufactured using advanced industrial processes, and minor cosmetic variations may occur within accepted manufacturing tolerances.
These may include:
- Minor paint imperfections or blemishes
- Clear-coat variations or wear
- Minor decal or graphic alignment variations
- Superficial scratches or marks
- Cosmetic chips that do not affect the racket’s structure
- Minor differences in surface texture or finish
A cosmetic issue that does not materially affect the product’s structural integrity, safety, durability or on-court performance will generally not qualify as a manufacturing defect.
A warranty claim will be considered where the alleged issue materially affects the racket’s expected quality, playability, safety or reasonable lifespan.
8.6 Warranty Exclusions
Subject to applicable law, warranty coverage does not extend to damage or deterioration caused by:
- Impact with walls, floors, glass, fences, posts, nets or other rackets
- Scraping or striking the racket against the court surface
- Playing in wet weather or on wet courts
- Exposure to rain, moisture, excessive humidity or damp conditions
- Exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold or prolonged sunlight
- Leaving or storing the racket inside a hot vehicle
- Incorrect transportation or inadequate protective packaging
- Use with inappropriate balls or accessories
- Alterations, repairs or modifications not authorised by the manufacturer
- Misuse, abuse, negligence or unintended use
- Rental, coaching or commercial use outside the product’s intended specifications
- Normal wear and tear
- Theft, loss or accidental damage
Impact damage may be visible as chips, cracks, compression marks, abrasions or fractures. In some cases, impact damage may occur beneath the surface without an immediately visible external mark.
8.7 Additional Warranty Conditions
- Proof of purchase or a valid Spin Blade order number is required
- The claim applies only to products purchased from Spin Blade Padel
- The racket’s serial number or manufacturer identifiers must be verifiable where applicable
- Spin Blade Padel may request the return of the product for investigation
- The customer must package the product adequately when returning it
- A commercial manufacturer’s warranty may be non-transferable and limited to the original purchaser, subject to applicable law
- Any replacement product may be the same model or a reasonably equivalent model where the original model is unavailable
- Remedies will be determined in accordance with applicable law and any valid additional manufacturer warranty
Nothing in these conditions excludes a right that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.
- Frequently Asked Questions
9.1 What Is the Expected Lifespan of a Padel Racket?
Padel rackets are high-performance sporting products with a finite performance lifespan. Longevity varies according to frequency of play, intensity, player level, ball quality, court conditions, impact exposure and care.
As a general guideline only:
- Occasional or recreational play—1 to 2 times per week: Approximately 9–12 months of optimal performance
- Regular or club play—2 to 4 times per week: Approximately 6–9 months of optimal performance
- Frequent or intensive play—4 or more times per week: Approximately 3–6 months of optimal performance, depending on intensity and playing conditions
These periods are estimates and are not guaranteed warranty periods.
Performance characteristics such as power, responsiveness, feel and sweet-spot behaviour may naturally change over time, even where the racket has no visible structural damage. Normal performance deterioration is part of the expected product lifecycle and is not necessarily evidence of a manufacturing defect.
9.2 How Should I Care for My Padel Racket?
To help maximise the racket’s lifespan:
- Avoid playing in rain or on wet courts
- Do not use the racket with wet grips or wet balls
- Store it in a cool, dry place
- Keep it away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures
- Do not leave it inside a vehicle
- Use suitable padel balls only
- Replace grips regularly to reduce moisture absorption
- Use a protective racket bag during storage and transportation
- Avoid hitting the court, walls, glass, fences, posts or other rackets
Failure to follow reasonable care instructions may accelerate material fatigue and may affect warranty eligibility where the damage was caused by improper use or storage.
9.3 Is Loss of Power or Feel Covered by the Warranty?
A gradual loss of power, responsiveness, “pop,” feel or sweet-spot performance without evidence of a structural or manufacturing failure will generally be considered part of the racket’s normal lifecycle.
Each claim will nevertheless be considered according to the available evidence and applicable law.
9.4 How Long Does a Warranty Assessment Take?
Warranty assessments generally take approximately 5–15 working days after the racket and all required supporting information have been received.
Complex claims or assessments requiring input from an overseas manufacturer may take longer. Spin Blade Padel will provide updates where reasonably possible.
9.5 Will I Receive Cash for a Change-of-Mind Return?
No. An approved discretionary change-of-mind return will normally be issued as a Spin Blade Wallet credit, after any lawful and applicable deductions.
This does not apply where the customer is legally entitled to receive a monetary refund.
9.6 Can Spin Blade Wallet Credit Be Withdrawn as Cash?
No. Spin Blade Wallet credit cannot be withdrawn, transferred or exchanged for cash, except where otherwise required by applicable law.
