Spin Blade & Floky SA: Supporting the SA Grand Open and SA Grand Tour
Spin Blade and Floky SA supporting South African padel
Spin Blade Padel and Floky SA have supported the SA Grand Open from its earliest events, continuing their involvement as the competition developed into the broader SA Grand Tour.
The partnership has always been about contributing to the players and the growth of competitive padel in South Africa. Depending on the event and its requirements, prizes have included padel balls, Floky biomechanical sleeves, Spin Blade shopping vouchers and padel rackets.
Neither Spin Blade nor Floky has been the title sponsor of the competition. Their role has been that of supporting sponsors and prize partnersโhelping organisers reward participation and performance while giving players access to specialist padel equipment and performance-support products.

What is the SA Grand Open?
The SA Grand Open was established as a national-level competition bringing together ambitious social players, developing competitors and some of South Africaโs leading padel talent.
Its events helped create a meeting point for players from different cities and communities. Rather than focusing only on one playing level, the competition expanded across open, challenger, junior and age-group divisions, depending on the individual tournament programme.
Early events demonstrated the demand for organised national competition. The format subsequently developed beyond individual SA Grand Open tournaments into a connected national circuit: the SA Grand Tour.

From the SA Grand Open to the SA Grand Tour
The SA Grand Tour was formally introduced as a nationwide padel circuit designed to connect city-based opens, junior development, legends categories and elite competition through one tour structure.
According to the organisers, the 2026 programme was announced with 18 events:
- 10 City Opens
- 3 SA Grand Junior events
- 2 SA Grand Legends events
- 2 SA Grand Opens
- 1 SA Grand Tour Finale
Events contribute to a common ranking and qualification pathway, culminating in a season-ending finale. This gives players something larger to pursue than the outcome of a single weekend: performances across the season can contribute to progress on the national tour.

Our involvement from the outset
Spin Blade and Floky SAโs involvement began with the early SA Grand Open events and continued as the competition grew.
The exact sponsorship contribution has varied from one event to another. This flexible approach allowed prizes to be matched to the tournament, division and requirements of the organisers. Contributions have included:
- Padel rackets for selected prizes or giveaways
- Padel balls
- Spin Blade shopping vouchers
- Floky biomechanical sleeves and performance-support products
For Spin Blade, supporting these events is a practical extension of what the business does every day: helping South African players find authentic, suitable padel equipment and informed product guidance.
For Floky SA, tournament involvement provides an opportunity to introduce players to biomechanical garments designed to support movement during sport. Product suitability remains individual, and support garments should not be represented as substitutes for professional medical assessment or treatment.
Why tournament sponsorship matters
Padelโs growth depends on more than new courts. A healthy playing community also needs structured competitions, developing officials, committed organisers, junior pathways and incentives that encourage players to test themselves.
Supporting tournament prizes can make a meaningful contribution by:
- Recognising playersโ performances across different divisions
- Adding value to the tournament experience
- Introducing players to specialist padel and performance products
- Supporting junior and developing competitors
- Helping events attract repeat participation
- Strengthening relationships between players, clubs, organisers and specialist retailers
The value is not limited to the winnerโs prize. Well-run events create competitive experience, new partnerships and a stronger national padel community.

Competition for different stages of the player pathway
One of the national tourโs most valuable features is its broader competitive pathway.
City Opens
City Opens take the tour to different parts of South Africa, giving players opportunities to compete closer to home while connecting regional padel communities to a national structure.
SA Grand Juniors
Junior events give developing players tournament experience in an organised environment. They also complement the growing international opportunities available through competitions such as the FIP Promises circuit.
SA Grand Legends
Legends competition recognises that competitive padel is not limited to one age group. It gives experienced players a relevant platform while strengthening the inclusive, lifelong character of the sport.
SA Grand Open and Tour Finale
The SA Grand Open brings together high-level competition across its published divisions, while the Tour Finale provides a destination for leading season performers under the tourโs qualification system.
More than prizes
The visible part of sponsorship may be a racket, voucher or Floky sleeve presented to a player. The larger purpose, however, is sustained participation.
Every well-supported tournament gives players another reason to train, travel, form partnerships and return to competition. It also provides clubs, organisers, referees, coaches and sponsors with experience that helps raise the standard of future events.
Spin Blade is proud to have been involved from the early SA Grand Open events and to continue supporting the journey as the platform grows into a wider national tour.
